Program Tracks: Macro to Micro perspectives
WHY DOES SOMEONE WANT TO KNOW THIS? Getting prepared to attend. Possibly convincing their boss they should attend. Looking at who’s there so they can sponsor. Wondering if they should have applied to speak.
We’re excited to announce our Program Tracks at the TUFF Summit 2016. This year, the Summit has over 36 speakers presenting 18 sessions. The following 3 Program Tracks all support the Summit’s theme: Breaking Barriers through Innovation:
- Leaders & Visionaries: inspiring thought-leadership in sustainability
- Innovating Project: ground-breaking case studies
- Pioneering Practices: technical expertise & best practices
TUFF wants to give multi-level support to our audience in a collaborative event.
This summit is a unique opportunity for you to look at all of your projects – recently completed, ongoing and next-on-deck – through these 3 tracks. As you prepare, take some time to review where you are going in the next year. What resources do you need to grow and evolve? You can plan your attendance to connect more deeply to your purpose and support your work with great examples and new technical practices.
Guiding Forces in the Industry. Our keynote & General Session speakers include Tom Murphy of ULI, David Orr of the Oberlin Project, and Wendell Brase of the University of California – Irvine. These are a select group of thinkers and pioneers in the campus development industry. We hope you are inspired by their stories and wisdom. This group of speakers offer a unique opportunity to be inspired by the sector and all it has accomplished in the recent past. These are individuals who have executed exceptional careers with a deep connection to their purpose. Listening to them will inspire you to think about WHY you do what you do. Leaders & Visionaries
Thought-leadership and trend spotting. This track will examine components of the triple-bottom line principal. Topics to be covered include: Finance, Health, Innovation and Attitude. Within these ideas, speakers will focus on WHY our sector works so hard to execute projects at a high level with large-scale impact.
Example session: “The Financial Impact of Sustainability: Current and Future Trends”, an esteemed panel of experts moderated by Dagmar Epsten of the Epsten Group.
Ground-breaking case studies. Buildings play an important role in fostering campus innovation, building community and creating commerce. Although university spaces are where industry and research collide to develop and share ideas, poorly executed projects can have the opposite effect. In these breakout sessions speakers will tell their stories, case studies and lessons learned. This track will dive deeply into HOW to assemble your ideas, teams and project support to achieve project goals.
Example session: “From Vision to Reality…A New Student focused Innovation Center at Clemson University”, featuring speakers Dr. Charles Watt and Dr. Barbara Speziale of Clemson University as well as Floyd Cline of Perkins + Will.
Technical expertise and evolving best practices. These concurrent sessions feature a breadth of experts sharing experiences about the elements that go into making up a successful project. From the idea to deal to opening, you’ll leave with information about financing, green energy savings, public private partnerships, creating a winning team and dozens of other topics. Across these sessions, the focus will be on WHAT products, people and technologies to utilize as you move forward.
Example session: “Introduction to the WELL Building Standard”, presented by Carlie Bullock-Jones of Ecoworks Studio.
