About Anand Sankey:
Anand Sankey is the Director of Maintenance Services in Facilities Management at Western Michigan University. He has over 17 years of experience, which includes campus storm water management, campus utility asset management, commissioning, LEED certification, campus life safety operations, energy management, preventative maintenance, building automation systems and facilities management. He served on the Presidents University Wide Sustainability Committee which developed the Carbon Neutrality Plan.
Anand received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from WMU in 1996. He continues his education on industry trends and has coordinated seven
LEED certified projects on campus. Anand works closely with the Office of Sustainability to ensure new buildings and renovation of existing buildings are designed according to sustainable standards.
Topic: Leveraging a Green Revolving Fund in Pursuit of Climate Neutrality
Description: Many campuses have embraced ambitious sustainability goals; however, financing and implementation of capital improvements to achieve the goals remains challenging. The Billion Dollar Green Challenge was created to encourage colleges, universities, and other nonprofit institutions to invest in self-managed revolving funds that finance energy efficiency improvements. Hear from a national cross-section of Challenge participants who have successfully initiated “Green Revolving Funds” to reinvest savings from energy efficiency improvements to fund additional improvements as part of a comprehensive energy efficiency and carbon emissions reduction strategy.
